In that respect, it's kind of disappointing to see the new laptops heading away from that.Īlso, to those of you saying I've "babied" my laptop, that's hardly the case. Anyone else notice this?ĮDIT: I'm pretty surprised at the response to this! I think the biggest factor in the survivability of these laptops (aside from the construction.) is the fact that they could be upgraded (quite a bit) for relatively low cost. I guess I'm missing Bluetooth 4.0 and 802.11AC, but I could buy a USB dongle for those if I really wanted.īut overall, almost everyone I know who bought a MacBook Pro in 2009-2010 still uses it, and still loves it. My dad is running Yosemite on his all stock C2D 2009 13", and he's finally having the battery, HDD, and RAM upgraded this year. I have a few other friends and family members who are all running 2009-2010 MacBooks without any issues after this long, with occasional upgrades. Granted, it has the i7, and I've upgraded the RAM and replaced the HDD with an SSD, but it's still on its original battery, and original everything else (Logic board, etc).
